Free licenses
COLUMBUS -- Ohio military veterans who are disabled or former prisoners of war, and certain active members of the military may be eligible to receive free hunting and fishing licenses, boat registrations and special recreational discounts at Ohio State Park facilities. Call the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife at (800) 827-1000 for more information.
Free exams, flu shots
Free health screenings and flu shots for veterans will be offered by Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center personnel from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the center, 325 New Castle Road, Butler, Pa.; and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 6 at Hickory VFW Post 6166, Hermitage, Pa. Veterans are asked to bring their discharge papers.
Commission meeting
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission will meet at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Mahoning County Annex, 2801 Market St. The veterans service office will close at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and reopen at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26.

Appointment
Navy Midshipman Seth R. Krueger (Union Area High School, New Castle, Pa. '01) was appointed to the Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md. He is a son of Lorraine and Donald H. Krueger, Edinburg, Pa.

Camp Challenge
Joshua T. Christy has graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) basic five-week Camp Challenge at Fort Knox, Ky. Christy, a student at Grove City College, Pa., is a son of Karl A. and Marcia D. Christy, 341 N. Pitt St., Mercer, Pa., and a 1999 graduate of Mercer High School.
Military police
Army Pfc. Matthew W. Murphy (Youngstown Chaney High School '01) graduated from basic training and is undergoing military police training before being sent to Korea in December. Murphy is a son of Robert and Carolyn Murphy, 45 S. Evanston Ave., and a grandson of Melvin and Nancy Weimer, 112 N. Portland Ave.

Second lieutenant
Lori A. Pluchinsky was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Air Force after graduating from the 12-week Officer Training School (OTS) at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. Pluchinsky, a personnel officer, is assigned to Headquarters Office Of Special Investigations, Andrews Air Force Base, Md. A daughter of Robert E. and Jewel A. Pluchinsky, 8076 Cliffview Drive, Poland, she graduated in 1994 from Poland High School and in 1998 from Youngstown State University.
AIR RESERVE STATION
In Vienna
Several reservists have arrived for duty at Youngstown Air Reserve Station in Vienna. They include:
UAirman 1st Class Alan B. Warrick, a son of Vicki L. Gingher, 10924 Seacrist Road, Beloit, and Bruce Warrick, 205 S. 12th St., Sebring, is a crew chief assigned to the 910th Maintenance Squadron. He is a 2000 graduate of West Branch High School, Beloit.
UCapt. Michael S. Keller is a physician assigned to the 910th Medical Squadron. He is the son of Audrey A. Dagan, 1039 Woodlawn, Girard, and Derald E. Keller, Andover, Ohio. Dr. Keller graduated in 1975 from Youngstown Ursuline High School and earned his medical degree from Ohio University, Athens.
UAirman 1st Class Ryan J. Papic, a son of Danial R. and Tanya A. Papic, 1119 Elberon Ave., Salem. Papic is a crew chief assigned to the 910th Maintenance Squadron. He graduated in 1999 from Salem High School.
UStaff Sgt. James L. Brock, a son of Lester W. Brock, 580 Westfield Road, East Liverpool, is a crew chief assigned to the 910th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. His wife, Gingie, is a daughter of Robert Plummer, Burroughs Avenue, East Liverpool. Brock is a 1986 graduate of East Liverpool High School.
