CANFIELD -- Dave Dravecky, formerly of Boardman, and his wife, Jan, will speak about "Hope in the Midst of Suffering" at 7 p.m. Dec. 1 at Old North Church. The event is free.
The couple founded Outreach of Hope ministry in 1991. Dravecky was a player for the San Francisco Giants whose pitching arm was amputated to stop the spread of cancer and save his life.
Jan Dravecky struggled with depression during her husband's illness.

Thanksgiving service
BOARDMAN -- A Thanksgiving Eve worship service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church.
The service is sponsored by Calvary and Western Reserve Baptist churches.
Musician appears
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Christian recording artist David Meece will perform at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Living Word Church. An offering will be taken. Meece will also participate in the 10 a.m. Sunday service.

CORNERSBURG -- Zion Lutheran Church will have a Thanksgiving worship service at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be offered.
Powell to be honored
BOARDMAN -- The Promise Keepers of Ohio, Pennsylvania and Columbiana Counties are sponsoring a women's night out in honor of the Rev. Elizabeth Powell who became the first female Baptist minister in the Mahoning Valley and who founded World Fellowship Interdenominational Ministries, at 7 p.m. Nov. 30 at the Georgetown in Boardman.
