Schedules needed

Valley hands rivalrare setback
STRUTHERS -- Fabio Sartini, Roberto Barbara and Jason Catone each scored two goals as Valley Sports F.C. defeated Lencyk Masonry 8-4, handing the Lencyk team its first loss in three years outdoors or indoors in the Adult Soccer Division at Valley Sports.
Larry Lencyk scored twice for the Masonry team. Mohammed Abou scored three goals as the Internationals beat Macintyre 10-3 while Chris Styn scored five times and Matt Tringhese had four goals to lead the Eagles past Macintyre 15-2.
Lencyk Masonry bounced back to pin an 11-7 setback on the Internationals as Larry Lencyk scored three times and Fabio Sartini scored three times to lead Valley Sports F.C. past Simone 7-2.
Volleyball tryoutsset in Girard
GIRARD -- Youngstown Junior Volleyball Club is holding its 2002 season tryouts at Girard High School Sunday.
The directors will be Boardman High coach Ron Slipkasky and Girard coach Phil Walters.
Times for tryouts are 1-3 p.m. for ages 15-and-younger; 3:15-5:30 p.m. for 16-and-younger; and 5:30-7:45 p.m. for 18-and-younger.
Tryouts will be charged $10 fee to cover liability insurance.
Roberts honoredcoach of year
COLUMBUS -- Bill Roberts, Warren JFK girls soccer coach, has been named the Division II Private/Parochial Coach of the Year by the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association.
Niles assistant coach Gary Jayne was picked the Division I Assistant Coach of the Year.
Boardman junior forward Janeen Masternick was honored with a selection to the Division I second team and Poland senior defender Allison Daprile was picked on the third team.
In Div. II, Cardinal Mooney senior forward Katie Duracky made second team while named on the third team were senior Sarah McNeil of Warren JFK and Hubbard sophomore Brittany McKee.
Brennan setat Ground Round
WARREN -- Former Cleveland Browns wide receiver Brian Brennan will appear at the Ohio Browns Boosters Club meeting at the Ground Round in Warren Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
Brennan will sign autographs during the Browns game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Singleton pickedALLIANCE -- Mount Union College sophomore Eddis Singleton was named the Division III Swimmer of the Week for the seven-day period ending Nov. 11.
Singleton set a Ohio Athletic Conference record in the 50 freestyle (20.4 seconds) in a meet at Wooster.
Touch Leaguetitle game set
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Touch Football League will crown its champion Sunday with three games on tap at Ipe Field.
Giacchetta's Lounge (8-4) will meet Kernan's Insurance (11-1) at 9:45 a.m. in one semifinal, followed by Affiliates (8-4) against Marlowe's Premium Coffee (9-3) at 11 a.m. The winners meet at 12:15 for the crown.
Affiliates beat Letty's 7-6 to reach the semifinals. Frank Scott threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Van Staples and the conversion pass to Jamie Scott.
Joe Savko hit Alrashan Clardy with a 90-yard TD pass for Letty's (10-3).
Lozon aces
CANFIELD -- Phil Lozon of Canfield aced the 110-yard No. 8 at Diamond Back Golf Course with a pitching wedge. He was playing with Micky Muzevich.

Pens reassignMike Wilson
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Penguins assigned defenseman Mike Wilson to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League on Friday.
Wilson had one goal, one assist, 17 penalty minutes and a minus-1 rating in 12 games this season.
He missed most of last season with a shoulder injury before the Penguins signed him in July to a three-year contract worth $2.65 million.
The 6-foot-6, 212-pound Wilson had his best season in 1999-2000 with four goals and 16 assists for the Florida Panthers. In 326 career games with the Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Florida, he has 16 goals, 41 assists and 264 penalty minutes.
Crew waiveLongo, Adams
COLUMBUS -- The Columbus Crew waived midfielder Mario Longo and defender Kevin Adams on Friday, exposing them to the MLS waiver draft.
Longo, 20, had one assist in four MLS games and one assist in two U.S. Open Cup matches with the Crew last season.
Adams, 21, played in five games with the Crew last season after being selected by Columbus in the third round (30th overall) of the 2001 draft.
The Crew have the eighth pick in Monday's waiver draft.
