Firefighters to march
YOUNGSTOWN -- More than 300 members of the Mahoning County Firefighters Association will march at 2:45 p.m. Sunday from No. 1 Fire Station downtown to Powers Auditorium on West Federal Street for a memorial service honoring 343 New York City firefighters who died in the Sept. 11 terrorist attack.
There are about 1,000 tickets for the service available at main fire stations in Austintown, (330) 799-1008; Boardman, (330) 726-4199; Campbell, (330) 755-8082; and Youngstown, (330) 744-7403; and at the Sebring Fire and Police Department, (330) 938-6114; and Pellin Ambulance main office in Ellsworth, (330) 533-2288.
Speakers will include the Rev. Lewis Macklin, Rabbi Joseph Schonberger, Father Michael Swierz, state Sen. Robert F. Hagan of Youngstown and Jerry Holland, vice president emeritus of the International Association of Firefighters 8th District. Youngstown Fire Chief John J. O'Neill Jr. said the public is encouraged to line the parade route and attend the service.
Victims identified
YOUNGSTOWN -- Dr. Jesse Giles of the Mahoning County coroner's office said a man found with a gunshot wound to his head about 1 a.m. Monday on a South Side street is Marcus Bradley, also known as Marcus Moore, 18, of West Chalmers Avenue and Minnesota.
Records show that he had been arrested by city police in late October and had been due in municipal court Tuesday for a hearing on a drug charge. His fingerprints on file at the jail aided in his identification.
The man who had been shot execution style and found by workers who were cleaning up litter Tuesday afternoon on an East Side street is Robert J. Mahar, 39, of Watervliet, N.Y., Giles said.
Robbery charge filed
CRAIG BEACH -- Town marshal Rick Watson arrested Jason A. Dean of Denver Drive on an outstanding theft warrant Tuesday, then filed a robbery charge Wednesday in Austintown county court against the 22-year-old man. Dean is suspected in the robbery of a 74-year-old Craig Beach man who suffered head and hand injuries, Watson said. Jackson Township police stopped Dean's vehicle Tuesday morning after its description had been broadcast, reports said.
Children and anger
YOUNGSTOWN -- Hedda Sharapan, a child development specialist, will present a program, "What Do You Do With the Mad That You Feel? Helping Children Find Outlets and Inner Control for their Angry Feelings," at 7 p.m. Monday at the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane.
Sharapan will also be the keynote speaker at the annual Mahoning Valley Association of Churches prayer breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Maronite Center, 1555 S. Meridian Road.
Sharapan is affiliated with "Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood" and is editorial consultant for Young Children and the Journal of the National Association of the Education of Young Children.

Woman sues city
YOUNGSTOWN -- An East Wood Street woman who fell into a manhole more than a year ago is suing the city for unspecified damages.
In the suit, filed Wednesday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, Edna G. Brown says she was walking along the sidewalk on Hazel Street downtown when she fell into the manhole and sustained injuries to her right thigh and knee, both ankles, her spine and a breast.
Police seek caller
LAKE MILTON -- Anyone who may have seen a man make a call about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday from a pay phone at The Lake Shore Plaza on Mahoning Avenue is asked to call township police at (330) 538-0078. The suspect is white, 5 feet 10 inches tall with a stocky build, and had on light blue pants and a black hooded sweat shirt.
He is suspected of calling That's Amore Pizza at 17794 Mahoning and robbing the place after asking that a pizza be delivered to a local tavern. Police Chief William Moretz said the manager was robbed at gunpoint after the delivery man left with the tavern order.
