Council also handled there matters:
Approved a pact with the 23-member Warren Management Association covering city department heads and other upper management employees. The pact outlines 4 percent raises the first two years and 3 percent the third year.Agreed to give more than 60 of the city's salaried and nonbargaining employees the same raises as were granted to WMA. Many of the employees work in the municipal court.Asked the state to waive about $57,560 in delinquent real property taxes, interest and penalties that accrued in previous years for the now city-owned land on Summit Street that used to house the Mahoningside Power Plant.Introduced a resolution to support the proposal that Trumbull County split from the 17th Congressional District. County commissioners and leaders from communities in the county plan to send a letter to Gov. Bob Taft listing the advantages of redistricting to separate Mahoning and Trumbull counties.Set Nov. 30 as the date for the city's Christmas tree-lighting ceremony on Courthouse Square. Events begin at 5 p.m. and will include a visit from Santa Claus, horse and carriage rides, and a performance by area high school choirs.
