Trade school to head up truck-driving program
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The New Castle School of Trades recently got approval in Pennsylvania and Ohio to begin a commercial truck-driving program.
This six-week program will prepare students to get a Class A CDL license.
Students will learn to be entry-level drivers in over-the-road and local driving vehicles.
Eaton Corp. announces white-collar layoff
CLEVELAND -- Industrial manufacturer Eaton Corp. said Wednesday that it will cut 10 percent of its corporate-level staff as part of a companywide restructuring.
The cuts will affect about 90 white-collar positions in the company's headquarters.
Eaton has already cut 1,600 jobs this year at manufacturing plants.

Lee, Wrangler makerto slash 13,000 jobs
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Apparel producer VF Corp., which makes Lee and Wrangler jeans, is cutting about 13,000 jobs, or 18 percent of its work force, as part of a restructuring aimed at boosting profits by focusing on fewer businesses.
The Greensboro-based clothesmaker said Wednesday it is exiting swimwear, private label knitwear and specialty workwear.

OPEC agrees to cut if others make cutbacks
VIENNA, Austria -- In a desperate effort to stabilize plunging oil prices, OPEC has made a conditional promise to cut crude output that ranks as one of the cartel's weakest and most uncertain agreements in recent memory.
The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries agreed Wednesday to reduce its daily production target for oil by 1.5 million barrels, or 6 percent, but only if non-OPEC producers make deep cuts of their own.
