MEETING DIGEST Township trustees

BROOKFIELD
The township trustees handled theses matters at their Monday night meeting.
UFire Chief Keith Barrett discussed the township's new fire insurance services proposed rating, which will be moved from a class 5 to a class 6, but the move will not take place for year. Barrett will be meeting with insurance representatives to make corrections that are needed so the township may maintain the current class 5 rating, which provides Brookfield with a better rate. Barrett added that residential insurance rates for fire protection will not be raised, but rates for commercial properties may increase.
UTownship employees may be looking at a 13 percent renewal increase if Brookfield decides to stay with its current insurance carrier, Anthem Blue Cross & amp; Blue Shield. Trustees are looking at options and deductibles that may decrease the 13 percent to 7 percent or 8 percent.
UThe road supervisor said slippery conditions on Lincoln Street have been corrected. The road was grated to create better traction.
URailroad crossings in the area will be looked at for upgrading with lights and road grating that will be paid for by a state grant.
UThe Youth League has requested permission to upgrade field 4 by renovating the infield and moving the dugouts. League officials also are interested in turning the pavilion by field 3 into an equipment storage building if the trustees donate the facility to them.
UBrookfield firefighter negotiations with the township will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 20.
