Some projects that the Youngstown Central Area Community Improvement Corp. has been involved with the past decade:
Constructing and managing the George V. Voinovich Government Center.
Demolishing the Higbee building and turning it into a parking lot.
Relocating Ballet Western Reserve to downtown.
Renovating the Elks building into the Morley Center for the Arts, which includes the ballet and the Oakland Center for the Arts.
Building four lighted and landscaped parking lots.
Studying all CIC buildings to determine potential for redevelopment.
Setting a five-year downtown plan.
Redeveloping the Erie Terminal.
Assisting with Cedar's outdoor caf & eacute;.
Renovating facades of the business incubator, Penguin Place and Ross Radio.
Beautifying various locations.
Relocating and expanding Plaza Optical.
Attracting ExTerra call center.
Renovating facade and interior of Draught House.
Putting new roofs on John R. Davis and Wells buildings.
Getting proposals to renovate city hall annex.
Providing funding assistance for renovations to Edward W. Powers Auditorium .
Consolidating parking committee that created two-hour free parking downtown.
Co-sponsoring 1999 and 2000 parties on the plaza.
