Teen bands to face off at Cleveland's Odeon
Teen-age musicians, are you ready to rock? Apply now for the Mountain Dew High School Rock Off, which will be in January at Odeon Concert Club in Cleveland's Flats district. Entry forms are available at www.cleveland.com/rockoff. Sixty bands will be selected to compete for top prizes, which include $500 in cash, musical equipment, an opening slot for a national band at Odeon and a cash donation to the musicians' high school band fund.

Dinner theater at Hoyt offers madrigal fun
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- "The King, the Sorceress, the Chicken and Their Wardrobe," an English madrigal murder mystery, will be presented Saturday by Slippery Rock University Madrigal Players at Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts, 124 E. Leasure Ave. The audience-participation evening will begin at 6 p.m. and include dinner. Patrons may choose rolled pork or chicken puff pastry. Tickets are $45. Shenango Valley chorale
SHARON, Pa. -- Shenango Valley Chorale will perform the Christmas portion of George Frideric Handel's "Messiah" at 2:30 p.m. next Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, 600 E. State St. Edgar S. Groves will direct the chorale and its soloists. Accompaniment will be by organist Raymond H. Ocock. Admission is free.
The Shenango Valley Chorale Madrigal Singers are preparing for the "Olde English Feaste" Renaissance-style dinner theater at 7 p.m. Nov. 29 through Dec. 2 at Tara, A Country Inn on Route 18 in Clark, Pa. Holiday benefit concert
AUSTINTOWN -- The Fitch High School Jazz Ensemble and Youngstown Area Community Concert Band will perform seasonal, holiday and patriotic music during their third annual benefit concert at 7 p.m. Nov. 29 in the high school auditorium. Austintown police and fire departments and Home Savings and Loan are sponsors. Proceeds will go to the September 11 Fund.
Disney hit 'Beauty'coming to Cleveland
CLEVELAND -- Disney's "Beauty and the Beast," the Tony Award-winning hit musical, will return to Cleveland for a two-week engagement in February. The elaborate Broadway production based on the animated film will be presented at Allen Theatre. An overtime National Football League game last Sunday left viewers in many parts of the country with a dramatically brief version of "60 Minutes" that contained only Andy Rooney's commentary. Normally, CBS would push back its full prime-time schedule to show the newsmagazine in full, but couldn't because of the live Emmy Awards telecast. So "60 Minutes" tonight will repeat the segments that East Coast and Midwest viewers missed, while producing a different show for the West Coast, where the show appeared uninterrupted last Sunday.
