Roadblocks on turnpike
Rolling roadblocks will cause Ohio Turnpike delays from about 6:45 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. Monday as workers demolish a portion of the old eastbound Cuyahoga River Bridge, the turnpike commission said.
Westbound traffic will slow to about 30 miles per hour beginning at milepost 190 in Portage County. Eastbound traffic will slow beginning at milepost 162 in Cuyahoga County. During the 30-minute roadblock, traffic will not be permitted to enter the turnpike at interchanges 173 (Exit 11), 180 (Exit 12) and 187 (Exit 13) or at the Towpath Service Plaza.
Youngstown Connection
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Connection recently performed at the National Association for Gifted Children's Conference 2001 at the Convention Center in Cincinnati. The singing and performing group of students represents the Youngstown City School District's high schools. It was selected through auditions by the National Visual and Performing Arts Committee. Members are: Ashley Schmidt, Arianne Ackerman, Michelle Holland, Ebony Hood, Melissa Rosendary, Kelly Cecil, Brandon Thomas, Daniel Colvin, Eddie Cortez, Jason Rosendary, Matthew Alexander and LeShawn Tucker.
Exhibition slots open
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts is seeking artists to fill a limited number of slots in its 2003 exhibition schedule for the mid-Atlantic region.
The region is defined as Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York and Washington, D.C. The following media are sought: photography, printmaking, ceramics, painting and all media of architectural themes. Send 12 slides, a r & eacute;sum & eacute; and a $25 entry fee to the Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts, 124 E. Leasure Ave., New Castle, Pa. 16101. The deadline to send materials is Jan. 15.
