CSEA workers leavemeeting with county
WARREN -- Talks between Trumbull County officials and workers at the Child Support Enforcement Agency remain stalled as striking workers wind up their third week on picket lines.
The 55 members of American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees local 3808 walked out after failing to come to an agreement over issues including health care and paid lunch breaks.
A negotiating session Thursday evening ended without an agreement. The two sides are not scheduled to meet again until Tuesday.
Flu shots in Girard
GIRARD -- The city health department will offer flu shots to all area residents Thursday from 9-11:30 a.m. in the Girard Multi-Generational Center, 443 Trumbull Ave.
There is no charge for those covered by traditional Medicare. Cost is $5 for all others.
McDonald pay raise
MCDONALD -- Village council has approved a 4 percent pay raise for village employees, effective next year. It covers all employees, including police officers.
Tickets for salein Lakeview series
CORTLAND -- Season tickets are on sale for the Lakeview Performing Arts Series. This year's lineup includes The Great Pretenders Oldies Rock Show, An Evening of Percussion with the University of Akron Steel Drum Band and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Warren man getsprobation in assault
MERCER, Pa. -- Paul Horvath, 33, of 2920 Foster Drive, Warren, has been placed on one year's probation and ordered to make restitution of nearly $3,000.
He pleaded guilty in Mercer County Common Pleas Court to simple assault and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors, in a March 18 episode in which he fought with security guards at the Hot Rod Cafe on Chestnut St., Sharon.
Guard Anthony Gardlock suffered an eye injury and guard Tracy Fleet struck her head on a pool table and was knocked unconscious during the struggle.
A third person, Lorain Jones, suffered an ankle injury when she was knocked down.
Youngstown courthouse
WASHINGTON -- The U.S. House of Representatives voted 410-0 to name the new federal courthouse being built in Youngstown the Nathaniel R. Jones and Frank J. Battisti Federal Building and United States Courthouse in honor of the two federal judges born in Youngstown. The legislation now moves to the Senate.
No deer hunting in park
BOARDMAN -- Hunting will not be permitted in Mill Creek MetroParks this year.
The park board decided not to allow the hunt after a count at the end of last year found about 100 deer in the woods. The deer population had been as high as 300.

Fund-raiser for baby
YOUNGSTOWN -- St. Rose of Lima Church and Organizacion Civica y Cultural Hispana Americana are sponsoring a dinner-dance fund raiser Saturday for Tyler Miranda, a 1-year-old boy born prematurely, who is now suffering from cerebral palsy and a brain disorder.
The child's medical bills now exceed $1 million, and he is scheduled for more surgery over the next few months.
The dinner will be at the church, 50 Struthers-Coitsville Road, from 1 to 6 p.m. A dance begins at 7:30 in the church hall. Dinner costs are $7 or $10. The dance is $10.
Music will be by the La Riquena Band, DJ Chico and Ronnie Navarra.
