City council members handled these items during a special meeting Wednesday:
Heard Rufus Hudson, D-2nd, call for the city to compensate Annie Hall, who has volunteered for 19 years as coordinator of the city block watch program.
Authorized the board of control to contract with the Ohio Department of Transportation -- at no city cost -- to resurface Canfield Road from Arden Boulevard to Williamson Avenue and Arden from Canfield Road to the city line.
Authorized the board of control to enter into all contracts needed to build a bridge between Division Street and the Ohio Works Industrial Park.
Authorized the city to apply for a $150,000 grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to assess and improve old industrial land along the Mahoning River.
Sent new zoning laws governing kennels to the safety committee and set a public hearing for 2 p.m. Dec. 11 in council chambers.
