Safe stolen from home of bedridden man

LAKE MILTON -- A 70-year-old bedridden man watched as a stranger dressed in black crawled through his bedroom and stole a safe containing jewelry, police reports show.
Mahoning County deputy sheriffs said the man was at his Redwood Drive home alone, lying in his bed, at about 11:30 p.m. Monday when the robber, wearing black pants and a hooded sweatshirt covering most of his face, crawled on his stomach into the bedroom and grabbed a "suitcase" safe containing jewelry valued at $2,500.
The man's 18-year-old daughter and 23-year-old son were not at home at the time of the burglary and were away for about 30 minutes, police reports show. They said they had been invited to a party and suspect the thief was another partygoer who was aware that a safe was kept in the bedroom.
