Care center to addnursing-home units
HOWLAND -- Shepherd of the Valley has begun construction on the expansion of its center at 4100 N. River Road. When construction is complete in about a year, the center will have a 40-bed skilled nursing unit and a 26-bed heavy-care unit in addition to its assisted-living center and independent-living condominiums.
Seminar to focuson business growth
LIBERTY -- The Mahoning Valley Economic Development Corp. will have a seminar on growing your business from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Holiday Inn MetroPlex. Topics include accounting, marketing and developing a competitive edge. Cost is $10. Call the MVEDC to register.
Retirement centerplans open house
SALEM -- Pleasant View North Retirement Center, 451 Valley Road, will have an open house from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 7. There will be a buffet, prizes, tours and a medical fair with health screenings. The center has new owners, Timothy Chesney and Dr. Michael Slyk.

NEW MIDDLETOWN -- A rural carrier job fair will be from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday at the New Middletown Post Office. Application information will be available, and tours will be given.
