Police charge two in drug offenses

BOARDMAN -- Township police charged a 47-year-old Youngstown woman and a 47-year-old Youngstown man with one count each of felony drug abuse and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police reports say officers were conducting a routine license plate check at the Terrace Motel on Market Street at 11:13 p.m. Sunday when officers noticed a vehicle whose owner had warrants listed.
Officers went to the room of that person's car and found the two people with various drug paraphernalia and suspected cocaine, police said.
In an unrelated matter, police charged a 21-year-old Poland man with aggravated assault after an incident at a Boardman-Poland Road bar at 1:45 a.m. Saturday.
Police reports say a New Middletown man was leaving the bar with a woman when the woman's ex-husband, his son and one of his son's friends stepped from the side of the building. Reports say the ex-husband hit the New Middletown man in the head with the butt of a handgun.
The New Middletown man told police the ex-husband then pointed the gun at him and fired twice as he ran. He was not hit. Reports say the victim went back into the bar and called police.
Officers went to the woman's home, where they found the ex-husband and son. The son was charged with aggravated assault. There is no arrest report for the ex-husband, however.
The New Middletown man was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.
