Medical services
The Mobile Outreach Team of the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Butler, Pa., will provide free medical services, including flu shots, to veterans from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 15 at American Legion Post 299, Sharon.
Memorial observance
WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. -- The Mercer County Korean War Veterans will mark Veterans Day by placing a wreath at the Korean War Memorial on state Route 318 at 11 a.m. Saturday. The memorial is located at the Ohio state line and the public is invited to attend the ceremony.

Kennedy Christian grad
Navy Midshipman Joseph M. Volansky, son of Tammy L. Fuchs, 19 Paul St., West Middlesex, Pa., and Joseph M. Volansky, 4004 Hermitage Hills, West Middlesex, has been appointed to the Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md. Volansky is a 2001 graduate of Kennedy Christian High School in Hermitage.

PROMOTIONS
National Guard
Army National Guard Sgt. 1st Class Richard L. Lantz was promoted to his present rank while assigned as a maintenance control supervisor with the 237th Forward Support Battalion, Newton Falls. He is a brother of Becky J. Vesa, Iddings Avenue, Warren, and is a 1982 graduate of Windham High School.
Air Force Reserve
Air Force Reserve Staff Sgt. Shannon K. Webber was promoted to her present rank while assigned as an aerospace maintenance technician with the 910th Maintenance Squadron, Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Vienna. She is a daughter of Mae A. Davey, 138 Maple Drive, Boardman, and William S. Davey, 360 Fairgreen Ave., Youngstown, and graduated in 1987 from The Rayen School, Youngstown.
Coast Guard
Coast Guard Petty Officer 1st Class Traci L. Addicott Willoughby, daughter of David and Sylvia Addicott, Brookfield, was promoted to her present rank while serving as a food service specialist. Her most recent assignment was a six-month, around-the-world patrol aboard the Cutter Sherman. Willoughby, a 1990 graduate of Brookfield High School, lives in Alameda, Calif.
TRAINING
POLEX 2001
Army Reserve Specialist Stephanie L. Lackey and Army Reserve Capt. Larry D. Scheetz were among 3,200 Reserve soldiers who participated in POLEX 2001, a training exercise at Devens Reserve Forces Training Area, Mass. The exercise involved soldiers from nine states east of the Mississippi River assigned to petroleum supply, water supply, signal and headquarters units.
Lackey is a personnel administrative specialist assigned to the 402nd Quartermaster Battalion in New Castle, Pa.
She is a daughter of Samuel and Terri J. Proya, 3470 River Road, Ellwood City, Pa. She graduated in 1996 from Riverside High School, Ellwood City, and received an associate degree in 2001 from the Community College of Beaver County, Monaca, Pa.
Scheetz is a staff administrative assistant-supply officer-adjutant assigned to the 402nd Quartermaster Battalion. His wife, Reserve Staff Sgt. Dawnle J. Scheetz, is a daughter of Leonard M. Smith Sr., 525 Dutch Lane, Hermitage, Pa., and Louise E. Smith, 1111 Jefferson St., Latrobe, Pa.
