CLEVELAND -- The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, will hold a free Guitar Center Regional Drum-Off from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday on the museum's main stage. Winner of the regional competition will be eligible for the national finalsin Los Angeles.
Also featured from 1 to 2 p.m. will be a book signing by Corky Laing, former drummer for Mountain. His book, "Stick It," is a collection of rock and roll anecdotes.
Matinee performance
YOUNGSTOWN -- A special matinee performance of the turn-of-the-century farce "A Fitting Confusion" will be at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 15 in Youngstown State University Ford Theater, Bliss Hall. Tickets are $2 at the door. Call (330) 742-7448 to reserve seating for groups of 10 or more.
Sweet Adelines to sing
YOUNGSTOWN -- "Tonight's the Night" will be the theme of an annual show of a cappella music at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at Liberty High School Auditorium by the Spirit of the Valley Chorus, chapter of Sweet Adelines. The family oriented program will include performances by SPEBSQSA male quartets, Wired For Sound and Popular Demand, as well as numbers by chorus quartets, Chord of appeals and B-Sharp.

Scrooge to visit 'hood
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Playhouse will present "Christmas is ... Comin' Uptown" for five performances beginning at 8 p.m. Nov. 9 and running through Nov. 17. This rendition by Peter Udell finds Ebenezer Scrooge living in the inner city and features an African-American cast along with singing and dancing. If you haven't heard of a little film called "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," based on a little book of the same name by one J.K. Rowling, well, apparently you are alone. Advance ticket sales for the Nov. 16 adventure about the orphan wizard kid and his escapades at a boarding school for magicians, are hot and heavy. Fandango (800-555-8355), the online movie ticketing company (www.fandango.com) that offers tickets for seven of the country's largest movie-theater chains, reports unprecedented volume for Potter ducats -- outdoing the advance sales figures for the 1-year-old company's previous best-seller," Pearl Harbor."
