VOLANT, Pa. -- An old-fashioned Christmas on Main Street is planned for Saturday and Nov. 11 in Volant. There will be a pancake and sausage breakfast Saturday at the Volant Fire Hall. The weekend also will include a breakfast with Santa Claus.
The Lawrence County Brass Band, a harp recital, a strolling mime and Santa Claus will be the entertainment throughout the day.
Shops on Main Street will sponsor an open house from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. For details, call (724) 533-5054.
Focus on adoption
WARREN -- Northeast Ohio Adoption Services will offer information about adopting Ohio school-age children during open houses from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Nov. 20 and from 4 to 8 p.m. Nov. 13 at 5000 E. Market St.

WARREN -- Nominations are being accepted for the annual Trumbull African American Achievers Association's hall of fame.
The induction dinner and ceremony will be Feb. 23 in Sorrento's Banquet Room, 2488 Parkman Road.

Open house in Windham
WINDHAM -- Proceeds from the Windham Community Center open house Saturday go toward the community's Christmas decorations fund.
Sponsored by "We the People, Windham," the daylong event at the center, East Center Street, begins with a bake sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a visit from Santa from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be dancing from 7 to 11 p.m. to the music of Rhonda's Rythym and snacks and soft drinks.
Cost for the dance is $10 per person. Tickets can be purchased at Patti's Restaurant or by calling (330) 326-0059.
We the People is a community group that formed after the Sept. 11 attacks. Its next project will be creating floats for and participating in the village Memorial Day services and events.
