Chamber of commercepresents awards dinner
COLUMBIANA -- Tickets are available at the Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce for its annual community awards dinner, set for 6 p.m. Thursday at Columbiana High School. Will Knecht of Wendell August Forge Co. will speak on servanthood in the workplace and the way an employer's treatment of employees affects work performance.
FirstEnergy calculatesdividends amid merger
AKRON -- FirstEnergy Corp. announced its dividend plans as its merger with GPU Inc. becomes effective Wednesday.
To coordinate with the final dividend being paid by GPU to its shareholders, FirstEnergy will pay a partial dividend of 27.9189 cents a share Dec. 1 to its shareholders of record Tuesday.
Also, FirstEnergy will pay an additional partial dividend of 9.5811 cents a share to shareholders of record Wednesday, including new FirstEnergy shareholders who were previous GPU shareholders. It is payable Dec. 7.

MINERAL RIDGE -- Specialty Pipe & amp; Tube, a distributor of heavy wall pipe, has selected Innis Maggiore Group to handle its marketing communications, including advertising, direct mail and public relations. Canton-based Innis Maggiore has an office in Canfield.
