CLASS B BASEBALL Astro's offense highlights holiday action



Roth Brothers, Youngstown Express, W.W. Heating and Livi were also winners.
STRUTHERS -- Astro Falcons scored 11 runs in the first inning en route to a 23-6 victory over Becdir Construction in Class B Baseball on Monday at Cene Park.
Dan Leonard went 3-for-4, including a double, with four RBIs, as Astro Falcons recorded 17 hits.
Boomer Whiting, Ryan Cummins, Garrett Cravner, Chad Wagler and Scott Wadman each had two hits for Astro Falcons, which put the game out of reach with a six-run fourth inning. Cummins had a double and Cravner a triple for the winners.
Pitcher Ryan Banfield picked up the victory. He allowed six runs -- two earned -- on eight hits while striking out six and walking one. David Yost pitched one inning of relief.
Charlie Jaminet had two hits for Becdir, while pitcher Shaun Barber took the loss.
Roth Brothers 16, Goldsteins 8: Steve Mientkiewicz went 4-for-5, with a triple, as Roth Brothers pulled away from Goldsteins.
Roth Brothers led 7-6 after three innings but scored three runs in the fourth and five more in the sixth for the victory.
Justin Crum added three hits, with a triple and double, while Shane Davis, Chris Boyes, Ian Schmidt and Jason Jablonski each added two hits for Roth Brothers. Jablonski had a triple and Davis a double.
Pitcher Jared Caldwell won in relief of Roth Brothers starter Tyler Young. Caldwell didn't allow an earned run in three innings of work. He struck out five and walked six.
Jeff Donston and Nick Tucci each had three hits for Goldsteins. Pitcher Jud Crowgey took the loss.
Youngstown Express 10, Alltell 6: Youngstown Express jumped out to a 6-2 first-inning lead and hung on against Alltell, which committed seven errors.
Steve Burnich and Mike Turjanica led the way at the plate with two hits each for Youngstown Express.
Vasili Pahoulis was the winning pitcher; Brandon Keck took the loss.
W.W. Heating 14, Sluggers 3: Jared Bogan had three hits, including a triple, and picked up the mound win as W.W. Heating defeated Sluggers. Cody Holecko added four RBIs for the winners.
Mike Pearson took the loss for Sluggers.
Livi 11, Rondinelli 2: Livi took a 7-0 first-inning lead and allowed just three hits to record the victory.
