YOUNGSTOWN Other council action

City council members dealt with theseissues Wednesday:
During a special meeting, approved a fact finder's report that says the Youngstown Ranking Officers Organization should get a 30-cent-per hour raise plus a 4 percent annual raise, the same as patrol union members got earlier this year. The union asked for 80 cents per hour more. Wages were the only issue that went to fact-finding. All others issues have been agreed upon. Results of the union vote, scheduled for Wednesday night, weren't immediately available. If both sides approve the report the item becomes part of the new contract.
During a safety committee meeting, talked with city lawyers about strengthening the city vehicle policy. Changes would include harsher punishments, including being fired; creating a disciplinary committee that would investigate all car accidents involving city vehicles; and giving the mayor discretionary authority on punishments.
During a safety committee meeting, talked more about changes in the city's dog ordinance. A dog warden dedicated to the city took nine dog complaints, caught 19 stray dogs and sold 30 licenses to people with unregistered pets in the first nine days on the job.
