WARREN Police arrest 2 in rape

An assistant prosecutor said he wants the 17-year-old to be tried as an adult.

WARREN -- Less than 24 hours after a city woman was raped, police were able to nab two suspects.
Anthony Vogle, 20, of Maple Street, Niles, and a 17-year-old Howland Township youth were arrested Monday evening.
Police say the two forced their way into the woman's South Project home around 3 a.m. Monday and sexually assaulted her. Police said the woman did not know her attackers.
The suspects were arrested Monday evening, police said.
"This was a fantastic job by these detectives," said Police Chief John Mandopoulos. "They solved this in less than a day. Making an arrest this quickly helps bring closure to the victim and helps the community feel safe. A crime like this is terrifying."
Vogle is facing felony charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and rape.
Pleads innocent: Vogle appeared in municipal court Tuesday and pleaded innocent to the charges. A preliminary hearing will be held next week, court officials said. Vogle is being held in the Trumbull County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bond.
Police declined to name the juvenile but said he is facing charges of delinquency by way of aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and rape. Sean O'Brien, an assistant Trumbull County prosecutor, said the juvenile will be arraigned in the next few days.
Hearing to come: "This is an extremely serious crime, and I am going to recommend that this juvenile be tried as an adult," O'Brien said. He noted that a hearing will be held next week to determine if the juvenile should be tried as an adult.
O'Brien said that in the hearing the judge will determine the seriousness of the crime and whether the juvenile would be better served in the juvenile system.
