New Castle woman charged with 3 counts of robbery

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Police say a woman demanding money threatened two convenience store clerks with a knife and tried to run a man over with her car.
Helena Bongivengo, 18, of 415 Boyles Ave., is in jail on $15,000 bond. She is charged with three counts each of robbery, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats and aggravated assault, and one count each of receiving stolen property and possession of marijuana.
Neshannock Township police said she approached a man taking money from a bank cash machine in Call's Plaza at 5:40 p.m. Sunday and demanded money. When he refused, she tried to run him over with a car, police said.
The woman then went across the street to McConnell's Sunoco Gas Station, threatened cashiers with a knife and took about $600, police said.
Police said they were investigating the Sunoco robbery when they heard a clerk at the BP Station on Wilmington Road was being held at knife point.
They said they arrested Bongivengo as she was walking out of the BP Station. She was arraigned before District Justice Melissa Amodie and placed in jail.
