Party honors the Weidmans for their jubilee
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mr. and Mrs. James E. Weidman Sr., 488 Norwood Ave., were guests of honor at a party held May 12 at Antone's Banquet Centre, Boardman, in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. They also renewed their marriage vows.
The former Gertrude Fagan and Mr. Weidman were married May 12, 1951, at Third Baptist Church.
Mrs. Weidman retired in 1989 as a checker with Federal Wholesale in Hubbard.
A burner at Morgan Engineering in Alliance, Mr. Weidman retired in 1979.
The couple are members of Third Baptist Church, where she is a deaconess and member of the Missionary Board and senior choir, and was a Sunday school teacher and superintendent. Mrs. Weidman also serves as a representative on Trumbull County Baptist Association and has served on the board of the Youngstown Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
Mr. Weidman is a deacon and member of the senior choir and gospel bands at the church. He has served as a Democratic precinct committeeman and presided over the neighborhood watch group. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Their children are Marie E. Weidman of Pearland, Texas, and James E. Weidman Jr. of New York City.
