CLEVELAND -- A five-kilometer run is being added to the 11th Annual Dr. John Carey Memorial AIDS Walk/Run in Edgewater Park. Hermes Sports & amp; Events has been hired to oversee the run. Valley group gets award
YOUNGSTOWN -- Families in Touch, National Alliance for the Mentally Ill of the Mahoning Valley, was awarded the NAMI Ohio Stigma-Buster Award at the recent state NAMI convention in Columbus. Members of the group accepted the award in recognition of their efforts to educate people on the biological cause of brain disorders that are classified as mental illness.
Blood-pressure checks
YOUNGSTOWN -- Blood-pressure screenings will be available in the area June 5, including the Brookfield Library from 10 a.m. to noon, the Liberty Library from 1 to 3 p.m. and at Beeghly Immediate Care in Boardman from 2 to 4 p.m.

Friendship day
CANFIELD -- Friends Supporting Friends -- Heather Vance Friendship Day is scheduled for pediatric cancer patients and their families at Camp Stambaugh, 3712 Leffingwell Road, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 2. There will be pony rides, clowns, crafts, make-overs, go-carts, games and prizes. A karaoke and dance party is at 1 p.m.

Health strategies
"In-SPA-rational, Health Strategies for an Awesome You," sponsored by Humility of Mary Health Partners, will be from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 9 at Holiday Inn MetroPlex in Liberty. The event will include sessions on aromatherapy, strategies to improve self-esteem, simple massage techniques, how to use herbal products and basic yoga techniques. Forum Health and Women's Health Advantage are encouraging women to get mammograms during May. Mobile clinic site
The St. Elizabeth Health Center mobile clinic will be at the Salvation Army, 1501 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday to provide free care to people without medical coverage. No appointment is necessary. Call (330) 480-3198 for information.
