AUSTINTOWN -- A Warren man was taken to the Akron Burn Center on Saturday morning after a fire at a car dealership.
Steven Holbrook, 26, of 2018 Todd Ave. N.W., was treated at burn center after the fire. He had burns on his hands and arms.
Holbrook, a mechanic at King Kar Motors at 4120 Mahoning Ave., was working on a car in a repair bay around 9:30 a.m. Saturday when fumes ignited in a gas tank. Austintown firefighters extinguished the fire in around 15 minutes.
The fire caused a total of $75,000 in damage to the dealership.
Motorcycle hits SUV,killing man from Mercer
MERCER, Pa. -- James M. Williams, 38, of 407 Old Ash Road, Mercer, died when his motorcycle hit a sport utility vehicle.
Williams was riding north on Old Ash Road near Pa. Route 208 at around 1:40 a.m. Saturday when he passed several vehicles. He struck the left side of a Ford Explorer driven by Michael R. Skibinski, 311 Stewart Ave., Grove City. Skibinski was turning left into a driveway from the northbound lane of Old Ash Road when the accident occurred.
Skibinski was cited for not wearing his seat belt. State police are still investigating the crash.
Art show scheduled
McDONALD -- The annual McDonald High School Art Show will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the high school library and art room.
About 450 to 500 entries from students in grades 8 through 12 are expected.
Admission is $1.
School board to meet
JOHNSTON -- The Maplewood Board of Education will have a special meeting in the high school library at 6 p.m. Monday to discuss construction projects.
Closed for upgrade
ASHTABULA -- State Route 46, between U.S. Route 322 and Kelley Road in Coolbrook Township, Ashtabula County, is closed until Oct. 31.
A detour is provided.
The closure is part of a $1.7 million project to upgrade Route 46 from the Trumbull County line, north to state Route 307.
Cleanup planned
YOUNGSTOWN -- Who's Who of Youngstown, IGA and the city litter control office will sponsor a cleanup from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and next Sunday at 1426 Himrod Ave.
Also, people can apply to receive paint for their houses. Priority will be given to senior citizens on the East Side. Paint will be given to seniors at no cost. The paint must be applied within 30 days. Call (330) 744-1542 for details.
Farm Bureau meeting
LISBON -- Columbiana County Farm Bureau will sponsor an information meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday for members interested in electricity and natural gas deregulation and the Farm Bureau group programs.
The meeting will be in Rooms B3 and 4 at Columbiana County Career Center. Dale Arnold, Ohio Farm Bureau Federation director of energy services, will explain Farm Bureau electric and gas group programs and answer questions.
