TRANSIT Shenango Valley

The Shenango Valley Shuttle Service is planning nearly $500,000 worth of passenger amenity improvements over the next two years in the five municipalities it serves. The service runs buses through Sharon, Farrell, Hermitage, Wheatland and Sharpsville. The bulk of the funding (80 percent) will come from the federal government, with 162/3 percent coming from the state and the rest coming from the shuttle service. The projects are:
2001-2002: $125,000 to build passenger comfort stations or amenities in all five municipalities.
2001-2002: $90,316 to buy land and build another passenger comfort station and pedestrian walkways at the southwest corner of Roemer Boulevard and Spearman Avenue in Farrell.
2001-2002: $11,315 to build public restrooms at a gazebo passenger stop behind the Hermitage municipal building.
2002-2003: $246,900 to buy land and build a passenger comfort station and pedestrian walkway connectors near the state welfare office on Highland Road in Hermitage.
