YSU and the MCC
U Former MCC commissioner Daniel "Tucker" DiEdwardo (1989-92) served as both the head swimming coach and assistant athletic director at YSU in the late '70s and early '80s.
U YSU competed with Cleveland State, Illinois-Chicago, UW-Green Bay, UW-Milwaukee and Wright State as former members of the Mid-Continent Conference until 1994.
U YSU men's basketball assistant coach Gary Grzesk led UW-Green Bay to the NCAA Tournament in 1994, '95 and '96. He was named to the MCC All-Defensive Team following the 1996 season.
U The YSU men's basketball team is 40-64 all-time vs. current MCC schools. The Penguins' only game against a conference school last season was a 54-53 loss to Detroit, which reached the semifinals of the NIT.
U The YSU women's basketball team is 49-24 all-time against current MCC teams. The Penguins defeated Cleveland State 85-78 and Wright State 68-58 last season.
U YSU is the first new conference member since December 1993.
