UNION SCHOOLS Board meeting

The Union School Board, New Castle, Pa., did the following at its meeting Wednesday:

School directors plan to adopt the budget at its June 20 meeting.
Set the per capita tax at $5 on all district residents 18 years or older.
Set the wage tax at 1 percent.
Set a $10 occupational privilege tax.
Set a 1 percent tax on all real-estate transfers.
Appointed Joseph Bullano district solicitor at an hourly rate of $100 and Daniel Delaney, labor solicitor, and Trisha Andrews, special education solicitor, each at hourly rates of $110.
Rejected bus bids submitted by Meyers Equipment Corp. of New Castle for used school buses. The company was the only bidder. The district plans to re-advertise for bids.
