Bands rock to benefit district's music program
NORTH LIMA -- Three bands will use their talents to benefit the South Range schools' music program with a concert in the high school auditorium.
The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. Saturday with Fixxtur, a band made up of high school students playing popular rock 'n' roll tunes. Dynasty, a KISS tribute band, takes the stage about 7:15, and a Beatles tribute band called A Hard Day's Night will follow.
Needs: The Music Boosters of South Range School District organized the concert to raise money for new equipment and renovations at the schools.
"Since the school district is expanding rapidly, our band room is not large enough to house our marching band," seventh-grade teacher Nycole Barkett said.
Barkett volunteered to help organize the concert because she was familiar with Dynasty's music and band members. Dynasty is a full tribute band, complete with wardrobe and makeup.
"This KISS tribute band is out of this world, and they are giving their time to our cause for free," Barkett said.
Dynasty band member Dean Pagnotta is a computer technician for the Mahoning County Educational Service Center who works in South Range schools two days a week.
Tickets for the concert at South Range are $10 each, and all proceeds benefit the music boosters.
