Howland alumni groupseeks members, funds
HOWLAND -- Spare a dime for auld lang syne?
The fledgling Howland Alumni Association is seeking new members and donations.
Incorporated in December, the group has a half-dozen members and about $350 in its bank account, said president Bill Quinlan. It needs more than that to get its program of scholarships, teacher grants and homecoming weekend receptions off the ground.
"Right now, we need to apply to be a charitable organization," Quinlan said. "That costs $500."
The group has compiled a list of potential members, Howland graduates from years past. However, it doesn't have the money to send them postcards, he said.
The next alumni association meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Howland branch of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library.
