HERMITAGE -- Hermitage city officials are ready to show off their newly remodeled and expanded municipal building with an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. June 3. Plans call for a ribbon-cutting but no speeches. There will be tours and free hot dogs for visitors. The city put $5 million into the project, which doubled the size of the old structure at 800 N. Hermitage Road.
Disposal of U.S. flags
GIRARD -- Sons of American Legion Squadron 235 will dispose of old or damaged American flags in a public ceremony at 1 p.m. Saturday at American Legion Post 235 on High Street.
Flags can be brought to the post any day after 2:30 p.m. for proper disposal.
Memorial service
BROOKFIELD -- Brookfield firefighters, the department auxiliary and township police officers will conduct a memorial service May 22 at 7 p.m. on The Green.
In the event of bad weather, ceremonies will be moved to the fire hall on state Route 7, north of Brookfield-Sharon Road.
The auxiliary will serve refreshments immediately afterward.
