YOUNGSTOWN -- The trial of former Mahoning County Prosecutor James A. Philomena in common pleas court, scheduled for Monday, has been postponed. No reason for the delay was given and a new date has not been set. A county grand jury indicted Philomena, 53, in June 2000 on 12 counts of bribery, two counts of perjury and one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity. Judge Richard M. Markus has been assigned to preside.
Philomena is already serving a four-year sentence in federal prison after pleading guilty to fixing cases while he was in office.
