Streak extended: Marty Cordova extended his hitting streak to 16 games with his first-inning single. During the streak, the former Blue Jay has a .422 batting average with four homers and 20 RBIs.
More for Juan: Juan Gonzalez drove in two runs for his 13th multiple-RBI game of the season. The cleanup hitter has 39 RBIs.
Hot bat: Roberto Alomar scored three runs Friday and has hits in 15 of his past 17 games. He's batting .415 during that stretch.
Getting better: After a horrible start, first baseman Jim Thome has hit in nine of his past 10 games (.359 in those games). Thome's average has doubled (to .248) since he hit an 11th-inning homer three weeks ago to beat the Tigers.
Sellouts: Friday's attendance was 42,009, about 1,360 shy of a sellout. The games tonight and Sunday against the Devil Rays are sold out, the Indians' first since their 454 sellout streak ended on April 4.
Road trip: The Indians will begin a six-game road trip Tuesday in Arlington, Texas, with three games against the Rangers. Wednesday's game has been changed to a 7 p.m. start. Next weekend, the Indians will be in Anaheim, Calif., for a three-game set with the Angels.
Better pitching: In the 22 games from April 14 through Thursday, Indians pitchers had reduced the staff ERA from 5.36 to 3.94. In that 17-5 stretch, the Indians' ERA was 3.26.
Better hitting: In the 19 games from April 19 through Thursday, the Indians' batting average was .322, with 49 doubles and 24 homers. The Indians lead the American League in batting average and runs scored.
Tickets: The Indians say 275,000 tickets are available through the end of the season. Except for the final series of the season against the Twins, weekend games have limited availability. The best seats available are for weekday games. The Indians have topped the three million mark in ticket sales for the sixth consecutive season. The only other AL clubs to top three million last year were New York, Baltimore and Seattle.
