Watching first ladyadds to her character
CULVER CITY, Calif. -- Carrie Quinn Dolin doesn't look at the president and first lady the same way the rest of the country does.
She has a slightly skewed perspective, playing first lady Laura Bush on Comedy Central's sitcom parody "That's My Bush!" opposite Timothy Bottoms as President Bush.
"I'm not so much looking at them as the president and the first lady, but I'm looking at them as, you know, OK, what can I get from them by watching them that I can add to my character?" Dolin told AP Radio. "Is there some little nuance that I could pick up?"
Dolin said it takes some work to make her look like the first lady.
"There's a little padding here and there. In the bust-line I am definitely padded -- well," she said, laughing.
Reynolds on revenue
FARGO, N.D. -- When Debbie Reynolds won the Miss Burbank contest in 1948, all she wanted was the silk scarf, blouse and free lunch she would get for entering.
She not only won the contest, but Warner Bros. offered her a screen test the next day.
The 69-year-old actress still works 50 weeks a year. She was to appear Thursday night at the Fargodome during Life's Options, a lifestyle exposition for senior citizens.
"I love my work and I have things that I want to accomplish and when you do that, you have to earn lots of money," Reynolds told The Forum of Fargo.
Following 'The Rules'
NEW YORK -- Ellen Fein still plays by "The Rules," even though she's getting a divorce.
The co-author of the "Rules" books, which teach women to snag men by playing hard to get, is splitting up with her husband of 15 years, just as "The Rules III: Time-Tested Secrets for Making Your Marriage Work," is hitting bookstores.
"I don't think it ruins my credibility at all," the 43-year-old Fein said. "I totally 100 percent believe in 'The Rules. And I believe in 'The Rules' for marriage ... and I did them all for many, many years."
The original 1996 book, "The Rules: Time-Tested Secrets for Capturing the Heart of Mr. Right," was a huge hit, with more than 2 million copies in print. The sequel, "The Rules II: More Rules to Live and Love By," came out in 1997.

Spaghetti dinner setfor Liberty High band
LIBERTY-- Liberty High School Band Boosters will have a spaghetti dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in the high school cafeteria, before the concert and symphonic band's performances at 7:30. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Takeout dinners will also be available. Boosters are raising funds for a trip to Florida in 2002.
