AUSTINTOWN Police arrest 3 theft suspects after chase

The chase ended at Compass West apartments.
AUSTINTOWN -- Three area men are charged with theft and resisting arrest after a brief chase with police.
Police said the three stole a pressure washer and an airless sprayer from a pickup truck at Bill's Place, 4771 Mahoning Ave., around 3:30 p.m. Thursday and placed it in their car.
The car was identified by a witness and later spotted by police heading east on Norquest Boulevard at Raccoon Road.
Police in two cruisers tried to stop the car, which headed south on Raccoon. Eventually, the car stopped in front of Trustees' Park and one of the suspects, a 34-year-old Austintown man, jumped out of the passenger side and ran west into the woods.
The two remaining suspects then drove past a police car and headed south on Raccoon Road.
After a short chase the two suspects led officers to an apartment building at 1010 Compass West. One of the suspects, a 33-year-old Youngstown man, jumped out of the car and tried to enter an apartment.
He was arrested after a brief struggle with police and charged with resisting arrest, fleeing and eluding, reckless operation of a vehicle, and two counts of theft.
The second suspect in the car, also a 33-year-old Youngstown man, tried to walk away from the car. He also was arrested after a brief struggle with police and was charged with resisting arrest and two counts of theft.
The Austintown man was later arrested near the park and charged with two counts of theft.
The total value of the washer and sprayer is $2,700.
