Most fire victims find new housing

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Most of the people displaced by a fire at the Harbor Heights Public Housing Complex on Booker Drive this week are now in new public housing units, said Robert Evanick, Lawrence County Housing Authority director.
Three families were left homeless Monday when fires were intentionally set in three storage buildings, including two attached to the heavily damaged apartment building.
An 11-year-old boy accused of setting the fires faces charges in juvenile court of arson, risking or causing a catastrophe, criminal mischief and recklessly endangering another person, said Matthew Mangino, Lawrence County district attorney.
The boy is being held in a juvenile facility until a hearing Friday where authorities will determine if there is enough evidence to keep him for a second hearing, Mangino said.
Evanick said workers expect to cover the exposed roof of the attached apartment units this week and work on repairing the inside should begin sometime next week. The housing authority's insurance policy should cover most of the cost, he said.
