WEATHERSFIELD Officials say FBI checked records

The administrator is confident nobody in township government is in trouble.
MINERAL RIDGE -- Weathersfield Township Trustee Fred Bobovnyk and township Administrator David Pugh say the FBI has been at the township building examining its records.
Bobovnyk said the FBI was at the building during the past 18 months; he wasn't sure of exactly when.
"I knew they were in the building, but I don't know what they were looking at," he said. "They had no conversations with me."
Traficant case: Included in a 10-count indictment of U.S. Rep. James A. Traficant Jr. of Poland, D-17th, is a charge that he intervened with the trustees on behalf of contractors Anthony and Robert Bucci.
The congressman is accused of using his influence in return for labor and materials at his horse farm in Greenford.
Pugh said the FBI has been at the township. "We've been gone over with a fine-tooth comb. We don't know what they looked at," he added.
Pugh said he talked to FBI representatives and added, "I feel comfortable there is no one here that's in trouble."
He noted that the township contracted with Bucci Brothers on two paving projects.
Question: At a trustees meeting this week, resident Marvin McBride wanted to know why the trustees were among those contacted as part of the FBI's investigation into Traficant.
"It suprised me just as much as it surprised you when I read it in the paper," Bobovnyk said. "I'm sure when he gets arraigned or goes to court, then I guess we will find out.
Trustee George Buccella worked for Traficant for 15 years before resigning last year to take an administrative job with the Trumbull County Health Department.
