Exodus from dorms
YOUNGSTOWN -- As close to 1,000 Youngstown State University students prepare to move out of Lyden, Kilcawley and Cafaro residence halls, they are being asked to donate usable clothing, bed linens, pillows, blankets, shoes and slippers, as well as working electrical items, all of which will go to a local charity. Students should continue to use the recycling bins for paper, magazines and other materials. For more information, call Jim Petuch at (330) 742-3237 or (330) 742-2294.
Volunteers neededto assemble equipment
McDONALD -- The village seeks volunteers to assemble new youth playground equipment at Woodland Park on May 19 and 20 starting at 9 a.m.
Village Administrator Robert O'Connell said the equipment cost between $35,000 and $36,000, and would have cost an additional $10,000 to have the manufacturer erect it. He hopes to finish the project in one day, but a second day may be required.
The only requirements to volunteer are a willingness to help and to be a teen-ager or older. Also, O'Connell said, it would help if some brought socket wrench sets. He said some volunteers will prepare food for the group and watch small children.
Residents interested in helping can contact O'Connell at the municipal building, 451 Ohio Ave., call at (330) 530-5472, or just show up.
