ROPE LIGHTS
What: About 270,000 on-off switches sold with Westek rope lights and 350,000 on-off switches sold with Light Tech cable lights.
Reason: When the lights are plugged in, even if the lights are not on, the switch can allow the lights to remain energized, posing a shock hazard to consumers.
Description: Rope lights, also known as cable lights, are lights inside a plastic cord used for decorative lighting. The recalled on-off switches were included as an optional accessory. The Westek Rope Lighting Kits have "Westek" on the plastic tube of the rope lights, and came in 9-foot and 18-foot lengths. The Light Tech cable lights have "Cable LightsTM" on the plastic tubing and came in lengths ranging from 6 feet to 24 feet.
Sold from: April 1997 through October 2000 at Home Depot, Lowe's and other lighting showrooms nationwide for $12 to $65.
What to do: Do not install the power switch supplied with the rope or cable lights. If the power switch is already installed, stop using them immediately and call either American Tack & amp; Hardware at (800) 777-0802 or Light Tech at (800) 485-3080.
DISNEY COSTUMES
What: About 54,000 Little Mermaid "Princess Ariel" costumes.
Reason: Fabric used in the costumes can easily ignite, presenting a serious risk of burn injuries to children in violation of the Federal Flammable Fabrics Act.Description: The Princess Ariel costume has a green skirt with two layers of netting on top and a sequined purple metallic bodice with a picture of Ariel. "The Disney Store" is written on the neckline label. Sold from: July 2000 through October 2000 at The Disney Store outlets nationwide -- and from July 2000 through January 2001 through The Disney Store catalog and DisneyStore.com -- for about $29.
