NORMA JEAN HODIL, 67 Performed with Grand Old Opry stars



MASURY -- Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the John Flynn Funeral Home, Hermitage, Pa., for Norma Jean Hodil, 67, of 5540 Nova Road, St. Cloud, Fla., formerly of Masury, who died Thursday at her home after a long illness.
Mrs. Hodil was born Feb. 7, 1934, in Clearfield, Pa., a daughter of Stewart W. and Thelma H. Potts Hess. A 1952 graduate of Brookfield High School, she was a home health care aid for Sharon Regional Hospital for five years.
She was a member of Eastern Avenue Baptist Church, St. Cloud, and had been a member of Sharon Baptist Church in Hermitage, Pa. She sang with the country-western band, Bud and Jean Hodil and the Plainsman, and performed with many well-known singers from the Grand Old Opry.
In 1969, she started singing gospel music.
Besides her husband, John Jr., whom she married Oct. 27, 1951, she leaves two sons, John R. of St. Cloud and Michael A. of Masury; a sister, Ruthie Hess of West Middlesex, Pa.; and five grandchildren.
A sister, Mary Ellen Muller, is deceased.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
