Q. I have a beautiful, lightweight robe that I love to wear in the evenings, but the fabric is not flame-retardant. I sometimes use a small electric heater and am nervous that my robe might catch on fire if I sit too close. Is there anything I can apply to the robe to make the fabric flame-resistant?
A. You are out of luck. There is no product that consumers can buy to make fabric flame-retardant. Our best suggestion: Wear your beautiful robe on warm evenings, but buy yourself a flame-retardant one for times when you will be using your heater.
And please, make it a really warm robe so that you don't have to sit dangerously close to that heater.
