EDWARD A. SMUKE, 75 Ran Quality Supermarket for 31 years



WARREN -- Services will be at 8 p.m. Monday at Robert H. Roberts-Clark Memorial Home for Edward A. Smuke, 75, of 1850 Cranberry Lane N.E., who died Friday at Forum Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Smuke was born Dec. 16, 1925, in Sunnyside, Utah, a son of Joseph and Carolyn Klaus Smuke, and came to this area in 1937.
He worked for Mullins Manufacturing in Warren. In 1955, he founded Quality Supermarket in Warren, which he operated for 31 years. He also worked in maintenance for the Warren Elks Lodge before retiring in 1998.
A 1944 Warren G. Harding High School graduate, he was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Elks Lodge 295 and the SNPJ Club.
Besides his wife, the former Jennie Barna, whom he married May 7, 1955, he leaves a son, Edward P. of Cortland; a daughter, Judy Smuke of Columbus; a sister, Frances Sainato, and a brother, Richard, both of Girard; and a grandchild.
Three sisters, Caroline Knezevich, Mary Waltko and Josephine Kassan; and four brothers, Louis, William and Anthony Gorsick and Joseph Smuke, are deceased.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
