Tavern plans AIDS fund-raiser

WARREN -- An Easter fund-raiser is being planned to help people living with AIDS and for the families affected by the disease.
Tristan Hand, owner of the Queen of Hearts tavern on Pine Street, said an Easter basket auction will begin at 11:30 p.m. April 14 at the tavern.
Area merchants are asked to participate by donating Easter baskets filled with goods from their shops, including gift certificates.
The maximum value of the baskets should be $25, Hand said.
They will be auctioned off during the fund-raiser, and businesses from Warren, Youngstown and Akron have already made contributions, Hand said.
Deadline: Donations will be accepted through April 11 and area merchants who wish to participate should notify Hand if they need him to pick up the baskets.
The idea for the Easter fund-raiser came, Hand said, when the local tavern helped raise money last year for the Northern Ohio Coalition Inc. which helps support AIDS/HIV initiatives.
"We wanted to do something similar locally," Hand said. "We want to take care of Trumbull County."
