Seven Seventeen acquires credit union

WARREN -- Seven Seventeen Credit Union has acquired Gougler Credit Union of Kent.
Gougler has $800,000 in assets and one office that serves about 400 members from 15 companies. The merger is effective Sunday.
"Gougler has a strong membership base within its current employer groups and will be a welcome addition to Seven Seventeen," said Gary Soukenik, Seven Seventeen chief executive.
Connie Haynes, Gougler president, said the deal will allow the credit union to offer its members more products and services through more offices.
Gougler's employees will relocate to Seven Seventeen's Kent office.
The deal has been approved by the Ohio Department of Financial Institutions and Gougler shareholders.
Seven Seventeen, which was founded in 1957, is the third largest credit union in the state and has nine offices in Trumbull, Mahoning, Portage and Stark counties.
