ORCUTT R. WARD, 84



ANDOVER -- Services were to be at 1 p.m. today in First Congregational Church of Wayne Township, Ohio, for Orcutt R. Ward, 84, of 46047 E. Erie County Line, Spartansburg, Pa., formerly of Wayne Township and Shreveport, La., who died Thursday in Titusville (Pa.) Hospital.
Mr. Ward, known as "Junior," was born March 23, 1917, in Wayne, a son of Orcutt R. Sr. and Hazel Dean Sweet Ward, and lived in Spartansburg for the past several years.
His family settled in the Wayne area in 1805. He was a 1935 graduate of Wayne High School, and for over 40 years owned and operated Quality Machine Co. in Shreveport, a tool and die shop. He was a member of the Masons, most recently in Tidioute, Pa.
An accomplished musician, he played guitar, mandolin and banjo, and was a member of the Seven Maniacs, a group in Ashtabula County many years ago. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theater and was a member of the Navy Band and several Shriners groups.
His first wife, the former Madeline Risey, second wife, the former Louise Miller, and third wife, the former Mamie White, are deceased.
Besides his wife, Anna of Brooklyn, Ohio, he leaves two daughters, Patricia Brown of Pittsfield, Pa., and Nancy Foose of North Royalton, Ohio; three sons, Reed L. of Phoenix, Ariz., Stanley of Mundelein, Ill., and William R. of Midland, Texas; and many grandchildren.
Two sisters, Velma Lewis O'Donnell and Mabel Kellogg; and three brothers, Garland Sweet, and two infants, are deceased.
