MIKE J. IOVANELLA, 80



NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Lucy Church of St. Vincent de Paul Parish for Mike J. Iovanella, 80, of Padua, Italy, formerly of New Castle, who died of a stroke March 14 in Padua.
Mr. Iovanella was born Dec. 28, 1920, in New Castle, a son of Frank and Mary Iannotta Iovanella.
He was a mechanical engineer for McDonald Douglas Aircraft Corp. in the United States and in Italy, and also was an aircraft consultant for the Italian Government.
He was a World War II Army Air Forces veteran, where he achieved the rank of first lieutenant. He was a pilot and flight instructor with the 27th Fighter Group and flew combat missions in Europe. He was a Catholic, and received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 1950.
Besides his wife, the former Maria Grieco, he leaves a brother, Fred, and a sister, Martha DeProspero, both of New Castle.
Two brothers, Louis and Patsy, are deceased.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Ed & amp; Don DeCarbo Mill Street Funeral Home where military rites will be provided by New Castle Area Honor Guard at 4 p.m.
