SHARON, Pa. -- Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sherman Funeral Home for Jason Francis Bottenfield, 17, of 800 Wengler Ave., who died Wednesday afternoon in Sharon Regional Health System hospital of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Mercer County Coroner's office is investigating.
Jason was born Sept. 19, 1983, in Sharon, a son of Daniel M. and Deidre A. Edwards Bottenfield.
He was a junior at Sharon High School and Mercer County Career Center. He took classes in protected services and recently passed an emergency medical technician course. He worked part time at Pet Supplies Plus and Mercer Bowling Lanes.
He played Little League Baseball in Patagonia, where he made the all-star team as a shortstop, and bowled in leagues at Sunset Lanes and the Junior Trio League. He shot competition archery while involved with Junior Olympics and placed in several local and out-of-state tournaments.
He leaves his father of Hubbard and mother of Sharon; a sister, Corie L. Bottenfield at home; a brother, Daniel M. Jr. of Fort Carson, Colo.; and grandparents, Earl and Doris Bottenfield of Sharon and Yvonne Edwards of Hermitage.
His grandfather, Glenn Edwards, is deceased.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
