SCHOOL BUNDLE DAY Poster winners



Twenty-two area schoolchildren have been honored as winners in the School Bundle Day poster competition sponsored by Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries. Students from 70 schools in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties participated in the contest in conjunction with the 40th annual School Bundle Day donation drive, which yielded 40,000 pounds of clothing and household items. Here are first through third places in order:
Kindergarten: Katie Smith of Villa Maria Teresa, Hubbard; Brianna Bianconi, St. Nicholas, Struthers; and Austin Beil, Holy Family, Poland.
First grade: Rachel Hardin, Howland; Monica Simon, Immaculate Heart of Mary, Youngstown; Patrick Rovnak, Immaculate Heart.
Second grade: Kristen James, Howland Glen; Krista Gierlach, Dobbins Elementary, Poland; Alexxis Palumbo, Immaculate Heart of Mary, and Marisa Sergi, Lowellville (tie).
Third grade: Nicky Mondora, St. Matthias, Youngstown; Michelle Sergi, Lowellville; Kandaze Bresnahan, St. Rose, Girard.
Fourth grade: Katelyn Brandenstein, St. Nicholas, Struthers; Nicole Zarlenga, Hilltop, Canfield; Julie O'Neill, St. Rose, Girard.
Fifth grade: Leann Devine, W.S. Guy Middle School, Liberty; David Baldwin, W.S. Guy; Bethany Bissell, Mineral Ridge Middle School.
Sixth grade: Brad Mondora, St. Matthias, Youngstown; Ila Jasinski, St. Nicholas, Struthers; Chelsea Butler, Lakeview Middle School, Cortland.
