EVERETT L. MCELHANEY, 76
BROOKFIELD -- Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in St. Vincent de Paul Church in Vienna for Everett L. McElhaney, 76, of 6120 Warren-Sharon Road, who died Tuesday evening at home after a long illness.
Mr. McElhaney, also known as "Bud," was born March 5, 1925, in Linesville, Pa., a son of Everett W. and Florence Beringer McElhaney.
He worked for Republic Steel in Warren for 40 years, retiring in 1987, and was a Navy veteran who achieved the rank of fireman first class.
He was a member and usher of the church, and a member of Lions Club in Sharon, LTV Retirees, and United Steel Workers Local 1375. He was a Boy Scout Leader in Vienna.
His first wife, the former Rosemary L. Durig, died May 13, 1976.
Besides his second wife, the former Eileen A. Scahill, whom he married Jan. 6, 1978, he leaves five sons, Kenneth of Fowler, Edward of Corona, Calif., Patrick of Hubbard, Chris of Lake Charles, La., and Mark of Norfolk, Va.; four daughters, Lee L. Hilliard, Roseann Everett and Mary Beth Sponsler, all of Vienna, and Colleen Money of McDonald; four stepsons, William McFarland of Transfer, Robert McFarland of Phoenix, Ariz., Thomas McFarland of Hubbard, and Ralph McFarland of Brookfield; two stepdaughters, Ellen Petrusko of Hubbard, and Sandra Cheney of Brookfield; two sisters, Bernice McDonald of Greenville, and Twila Jones of Albuquerque, N.M.; 42 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Madasz Funeral Home in Brookfield. Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman 44512.
